SRINAGAR, June 20, 2026 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today delivered the keynote address at the Srinagar-Nalanda Dialogue, an event jointly organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Department of Culture, Jammu and Kashmir, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, National School of Drama, and Nava Nalanda Mahavihara University.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the core objective is to revive India’s great inheritances of knowledge and spirituality, strengthen its civilizational traditions, and shape a future-oriented education system that seamlessly connects the youth to both historical roots and modern technology.

He emphasized that good governance inherently promotes cultural dialogue, which together shapes the moral, cultural, and human character of a society while formulating inclusive public policies.Reflecting on historical ties, the Lieutenant Governor noted that the scholars of Jammu Kashmir and Nalanda together shaped one of the oldest living civilizations in the world, and this shared heritage continues to serve as a guiding light for a new vision of Viksit Bharat.

He called for the active strengthening of India’s soft power and the strategic promotion of cultural diplomacy, noting that the country’s ancient knowledge once unified the globe and can serve as a bridge for the modern world. Highlighting the nation’s cultural wealth, he observed that the distinct identities of various regions, from Bihar to Jammu Kashmir and from Tamil Nadu to Ladakh, enrich the collective national consciousness.

He traced these intellectual traditions back to ancient learning centers like Nalanda and Sharda Peeth, reminding the audience that Srinagar itself was established by Emperor Ashoka, and urged the younger generation to renew these open exchanges of ideas through modern infrastructure development and heritage conservation in historic towns.
