Jalandhar Commissionerate Police arrest four gang members involved in extortion and firing cases

JALANDHAR, June 20, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against organized crime, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has apprehended four active members of a criminal gang linked directly to foreign-based handlers.

During the targeted operation, law enforcement officials successfully recovered three sophisticated pistols and a cache of live cartridges from the possession of the arrested individuals. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused were acting under the explicit directions of handlers operating from abroad and were actively involved in planning as well as executing multiple firing and extortion incidents across the Jalandhar and SBS Nagar districts.

A formal First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the Bhargo Camp Police Station under the Jalandhar Commissionerate to initiate legal action. A detailed, multi-angled investigation is currently underway to uncover the comprehensive backward and forward linkages of this cross-border criminal network and to identify other associates involved in the racket.

The operation underscores the continuous commitment of the Punjab Police to dismantle organized criminal syndicates and ensure long-term peace, safety, and public security across the state.
