Poonch Police and District Administration Organize Massive Awareness Rally for Drug Free Jammu and Kashmir
POONCH, May 4 — The District Police Poonch, in partnership with the civil administration, organized a large-scale anti-drug awareness rally today as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan. The event was designed to mobilize the community and foster public participation in the fight against substance abuse.
Hundreds of students from various local schools joined members of the general public to advocate for a healthier, drug-free society.The program began at the Sports Stadium Poonch, where participants gathered to take a collective pledge against the use and spread of narcotics.
From there, the rally moved through the main town areas and prominent marketplaces, with marchers raising slogans and displaying messages to educate bystanders on the dangers of addiction. The procession eventually returned to the stadium, where attendees reaffirmed their commitment to supporting local efforts in eradicating the drug menace from the district.
The initiative was supervised by Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Shafket Hussain. Both officials spoke at the event, emphasizing that addressing drug abuse requires a collective effort from all sectors of society.
They highlighted the essential roles that parents, teachers, and young people play in early intervention and the promotion of a disciplined lifestyle.By providing a public platform for awareness, the rally encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious drug-related activities.
The District Police Poonch stated that they intend to intensify these awareness programs and strengthen coordination with stakeholders to ensure the safety and well-being of the region’s residents.
