Srinagar Meteorological Centre issues light rain and heatwave alert for Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar, April 25, 2026:- The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting a mix of light precipitation and intense heat over the coming days.
For April 25, the department expects one or two spells of light rain or thunder at scattered locations, accompanied by gusty winds in some areas during the afternoon or evening hours.
While April 26 is expected to remain mainly dry, the region may see a return of light rain and thunderstorms at many places during the afternoon on April 27 and 28, followed by generally dry conditions on April 29 and 30.
Alongside the rain forecast, a weather advisory has been issued for the districts of Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, and Udhampur, where hot and dry conditions are likely to persist for the next three days.
Heatwave conditions are expected at a few locations on April 25 and 26. Residents in these areas are advised to avoid direct heat exposure during peak hours and maintain hydration by consuming sufficient fluids, such as water, ORS, or lassi, to mitigate the effects of the rising temperatures.
