NEW DELHI, April 24, 2026:-The Director General and all ranks of the Central Reserve Police Force paid a solemn tribute today to the 25 brave personnel of the 74th Battalion who made the supreme sacrifice on this day in 2017.

The martyrs were lost during a fierce engagement in Burkapal, Sukma, while providing security for vital road construction projects in the region.

Despite being ambushed by a massive force of nearly 400 Maoists, the troopers demonstrated unyielding resolve and fought back against heavy odds, eventually forcing the attackers to retreat.

The force specifically honored the indomitable courage of Inspector Raghubir Singh and Constable Abhay Mishra, both of whom were posthumously awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry.

This anniversary serves as a reminder of the exceptional valor displayed by the unit, with the nation remaining eternally indebted to the fallen heroes and their families for their service to internal security.
