Defence Secretary Launches Advanced Robotic Orthopedic and Maternity Facilities at Delhi Cantonment Hospital
DELHI, April 23, 2026 — Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh inaugurated a state-of-the-art Robotic Orthopedic System and a new Maternity Operation Theatre at Cantonment General Hospital in Delhi Cantt today.
Accompanied by Director General of Defence Estates Shobha Gupta, the Defence Secretary highlighted that these upgrades are a critical part of the government’s commitment to modernizing healthcare infrastructure for residents of the Cantonment and surrounding municipal areas.
The newly installed robotic system is designed to provide precision-driven surgical procedures that significantly reduce recovery times, while the modern Maternity Operation Theatre ensures specialized and safe surgical care for expectant mothers.
During the event, officials outlined an ambitious roadmap for the hospital’s expansion, announcing that a Dialysis Centre, Central Sterile Services Department, and upgraded ICU and laboratory facilities will be completed within the next three months.
Looking further ahead, the hospital plans to introduce comprehensive multispecialty services over the next year, including Pediatric and Neonatal ICUs, CT and MRI scanning units, and a dedicated Cancer Screening Unit.
These developments are expected to transform Cantonment General Hospital into a high-tech medical hub, ensuring that high-quality, specialized healthcare remains accessible to the community.
