Deputy Chief Minister Orders Safety Audit of Ramnagar Accident Site and Inspects Udhampur Development Projects
UDHAMPUR, April 23, 2026 — Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary conducted a detailed inspection of the Kaghoti Ramnagar accident site today, calling for immediate safety alignment and a comprehensive audit of the 13-kilometer Udhampur-Ramnagar road stretch.
Expressing profound grief over the recent loss of lives in a bus mishap, the Deputy Chief Minister asserted that responsibility for the incident would be fixed. He instructed the Chief Engineer to consult with technical experts to prepare a robust safety plan, including the reinforcement of concrete parapets and protection walls, to prevent future tragedies.
During an extensive tour of Udhampur district, the Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed various infrastructure works, including the renovation of the PWD Dak Bungalow, which he directed to be completed by May 2026.
He inspected key bridges and road projects, such as the Majalta Bridge and the Dhana–Bunal road, emphasizing that contractors must adhere to the highest quality standards and strict timelines.
Warning against substandard work, he noted that the government would not hesitate to blacklist contractors found in violation of quality benchmarks.
Additionally, he conducted surprise inspections of stone crushers and macadam plants at Birma Pull, ordering a total ban on illegal mining and directing officials to ensure strict compliance with environmental and mining norms across the region.
