Indian Air Force Conducts Successful Emergency Landing Drill on Purvanchal Expressway

LUCKNOW, APRIL 22: The Indian Air Force successfully operationalized an Emergency Landing Facility on the Purvanchal Expressway today, showcasing its ability to conduct strategic operations using civilian infrastructure.

The drill serves as a significant demonstration of the force’s capability to function effectively outside of conventional airfields, thereby reinforcing overall operational preparedness and enhancing rapid disaster response protocols across the region.

The exercise was witnessed by Uttar Pradesh State Minister for Panchayati Raj and Minority Welfare Om Prakash Rajbhar, alongside Air Marshal B Manikantan, AOC-in-C of Central Air Command, and UPEIDA CEO Deepak Kumar.

Their presence, along with other senior officials, highlighted the high level of civil-military coordination required to execute such a complex maneuver.

The successful landing and takeoff activities reflect the military’s swift mobilization skills and the strategic importance of using national highways as alternative landing strips during emergencies.
