Srinagar’s Youth Lead Massive ‘Nasha Mukt J&K’ Unity March; Over 1,800 Students Pledge for a Drug-Free Future at Lal Chowk

SRINAGAR, April 15, 2026: In a powerful display of community resilience and health advocacy, the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports J&K (DYSS), under the supervision of Director General Anuradha Gupta, successfully organized a Mega Unity March and Mini Marathon through the heart of Srinagar.

The event, held in collaboration with the District Administration, saw an overwhelming participation of 1,159 girls and 718 boys who gathered at the historic Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk to champion the “Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan.” Flagged off by DYSSO Srinagar Ghulam Hassan Lone and CEO Srinagar Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, the spirited rally transformed the city’s streets into a platform for social change, as students, parents, and educators walked shoulder-to-shoulder to reclaim the youth from the grip of substance abuse.

The initiative, a cornerstone of the UT administration’s “100 Days Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan,” concluded at Sher-i-Kashmir Park with a moving ceremony where every participant took a solemn anti-drug pledge.

While winners of the mini marathon were awarded medals for their athletic excellence, the broader mission focused on turning every student into a “torchbearer of change” within their own neighborhoods.

Addressing the large gathering, DYSSO Srinagar emphasized that the movement is a vital beginning in safeguarding the next generation, urging the youth to choose health and life over addiction.

The event highlighted the government’s commitment to building a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir through active community engagement and persistent educational outreach, marking a significant milestone in the region’s ongoing battle against narcotics.
