LPG Supply Remains Normal Across India as Ministry Implements OTP-Based Delivery to Prevent Diversion

New Delhi, April 15,2026 :- The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has confirmed that the domestic supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) remains completely stable, with no reported shortages or “dry-outs” at any distributorships nationwide.

According to Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry, the efficiency of the digital infrastructure has reached a milestone, with online bookings currently standing at nearly 99%. To further enhance consumer security and eliminate the risk of commercial diversion, the government has strictly implemented an OTP-based delivery system.

Under this protocol, a secure code is sent exclusively to the consumer’s registered mobile number, ensuring that the cylinder cannot be accessed or diverted by unauthorized individuals as long as the code remains confidential.

In addition to streamlining deliveries, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have introduced proactive measures to maintain high inventory levels and prevent regional stockouts. Minimum stock thresholds have been established for every region, ranging between 85% and 90% of capacity.

To ensure rigorous oversight, any bypass of the Distribution Approval Clearance (DAC) above these designated levels now requires direct authorization from high-ranking state heads or territory-level officers.

These strategic safeguards, highlighted by the Ministry, are designed to maintain a seamless supply chain while protecting the interests of domestic consumers through increased transparency and accountability.
