Nasha Mukt Udhampur Abhiyan: DIG and DC Launch Three-Month Anti-Drug Campaign with Mass Padyatra

UDHAMPUR, APRIL 11, 2026 — Marking a major milestone in the fight against substance abuse, the District Administration Udhampur officially launched the three-month-long “Nasha Mukt Udhampur Abhiyan” today.

The campaign commenced with a massive padyatra flagged off from the DC Office Complex by DIG Udhampur–Reasi Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa, and Senior Superintendent of Police Amrit Pal Singh. Carrying the powerful message “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life,” the rally saw an enthusiastic turnout of students, teachers, and civil society members.

The procession traveled through key landmarks, including Dhar Road, Barrian, and Domail Chowk, before culminating at the local Sports Stadium.During the event, senior officials including Additional District Development Commissioner Jugal Kishore and Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh participated in a signature campaign to reaffirm the government’s commitment to a narcotics-free region.

Addressing the media, the DIG and DC explained that this launch kicks off a comprehensive series of district-wide activities designed to utilize education and community engagement as primary tools against addiction.

The program concluded with all participants taking a formal pledge to support the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, vowing to foster a healthy, drug-free environment through constant vigilance and proactive outreach.
