SSP Poonch Conducts Public Durbar in Border Areas to Bolster Security and Address Local Grievances

POONCH, APRIL 11, 2026— Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Shafkat Hussain, conducted an extensive tour of the forward border regions along the fence today to engage directly with the local population.

Accompanied by DySP Headquarters Neeraj Sharma and DySP Operations Azhar Amin, the SSP hosted a Public Durbar to provide a platform for residents to voice their concerns.

During the session, community members highlighted various challenges, ranging from security issues and cross-border complications to the lack of essential civic amenities.

The SSP listened to these grievances and assured the public that all legitimate concerns would be formally communicated to the relevant departments for swift resolution.

Addressing the assembly, Shafkat Hussain underscored the vital role of police-public synergy in maintaining peace within sensitive border zones.

He issued a stern warning regarding the dangers of illegal activities, specifically targeting drug trafficking, weapon smuggling, and illicit cross-border trade.

Furthermore, the SSP urged residents to remain vigilant along the Line of Control (LoC) and to immediately report any suspicious movements to security forces.

This proactive outreach by the District Police Poonch was highly welcomed by the locals, reaffirming the department’s dedication to the safety, security, and overall welfare of those living in the district’s most remote border sectors.
