Mata Vaishno Devi Security Review: SSP Reasi Conducts Extensive Foot Patrol and Vulnerability Assessment

KATRA/BHAWAN, APRIL 10, 2026 — As part of an ongoing initiative to fortify the security framework for the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Mukund Tibrewal, conducted a thorough security review of the holy shrine and its transit tracks today.

Accompanied by ASP Katra Kameshwar Puri, the SDPO of Katra and Bhawan, and respective SHOs, the SSP led an extensive foot patrol starting from Darshani Deodi and Banganga, covering the entire mountainous route up to the Bhawan. The high-level inspection focused on the effectiveness of existing access control measures and frisking points, alongside a detailed vulnerability assessment of sensitive locations to preemptively bridge potential security gaps.

During the review, the team scrutinized the performance of CCTV surveillance systems, ingress routes, police check posts, and area domination strategies, benchmarking them against previous security reports to ensure continuous improvement.

SSP Mukund Tibrewal issued immediate on-the-spot directives to territorial officers to heighten vigilance and refine crowd management protocols, ensuring the safety of the thousands of devotees visiting the shrine daily.

This comprehensive audit underscores the Reasi Police’s dedication to maintaining robust security at vital religious installations and safeguarding the well-being of both pilgrims and local residents.
