BARABANKI/LUCKNOW– April 10, 2026:- As part of a strategic initiative to fortify the security of India’s railway infrastructure, the Surya Disposers unit of the Indian Army concluded an intensive two-day Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) Training Cadre at the Shingara Training School in Barabanki.

Organized for the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel as a vital component of the Disaster Management Course at the Jagjivan Ram National RPF Academy, Lucknow, the program was designed to transform RPF officers into highly skilled first responders.

The curriculum provided an end-to-end focus on the prevention, mitigation, and neutralization of IED threats within the high-traffic environment of the national rail network. The training modules combined theoretical knowledge with rigorous practical application, featuring table-top simulations, field drills, and joint tactical exercises.

Trainees received hands-on experience in sophisticated detection, search, and response procedures, with a specific emphasis on the unique challenges posed by railway bogies and crowded platforms.

A primary highlight of the cadre was a live demonstration showcasing the safe extraction of an IED from a train carriage using specialized techniques and remote equipment.

Furthermore, participants were trained in Post-Blast Investigation (PBI) protocols to ensure that, in the event of an incident, evidence is preserved and analyzed with forensic precision. To keep pace with evolving global threats, the RPF personnel were familiarized with cutting-edge technology, including advanced bomb suits, infrared (IR) cameras, next-generation detection systems, and specialized EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) vehicles.

This exposure to contemporary Indian Army equipment and methodology has significantly enhanced the operational preparedness and inter-agency coordination of the RPF. Participants lauded the professional expertise of the Surya Disposers, noting that the practical skills gained are essential for ensuring a safe and secure journey for millions of passengers across the Indian rail system.
