Fugitive Deported: Key Suspect in Social Media Influencer’s Murder Captured at Delhi Airport

BATHINDA/PUNJAB April 10, 2026 :- The intensive manhunt for the primary suspect in the June 2025 slaying of social media personality Kanchan Kumari, popularly known as Kamal Bhabhi, concluded today with the arrest of Amritpal Singh Mehron.

The operation was a collaborative effort involving the Bathinda Police, the Punjab Police Counter Intelligence Wing’s Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC), and various central agencies.

Mehron was taken into custody at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi immediately after being deported from the Middle East, where he had been hiding since fleeing India nearly a year ago.

The investigation into the case began on June 11, 2025, after Kumari was kidnapped and killed by a group of four individuals. The perpetrators subsequently abandoned her body in a car left at Adesh Hospital in Bathinda.

Although law enforcement quickly apprehended Mehron’s three associates, the lead suspect managed to cross international borders to escape legal consequences.

His capture marks the final arrest in a case that drew significant public attention due to the victim’s online prominence and the brazen nature of the crime.Authorities successfully tracked Mehron’s location through international intelligence networks, leading to his detention by Middle Eastern officials and his subsequent return to India.

The Punjab Police have utilized this breakthrough to signal their resolve in pursuing criminals who seek refuge outside the country.

By leveraging the specialized capabilities of OFTEC, the department continues to demonstrate a commitment to dismantling organized crime networks and ensuring that high-profile fugitives are brought back to face the Indian judicial system.
