Poonch Administration Launches Emergency Relief Operations Following Chikriban Landslide Threat
POONCH, APRIL 09: Acting on the urgent directives of Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma, a high-level joint team of district administration and police officials visited the Chikriban area today to implement immediate safety and relief measures following a significant landslide threat.
The inspection team, led by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Sayeed and including Tehsildar Mandi Ashfaq Hussain, DySP Headquarters Neeraj Sharma, and the SHOs of Loran and Mandi, conducted a comprehensive on-spot assessment of the terrain.
The investigation revealed that nine residential houses and one primary school were in the direct path of potential danger, prompting the administration to take swift precautionary actions to protect local lives and property.
To ensure the safety of students, the primary school has been successfully relocated to a nearby private building, while the administration has identified alternative housing for the families residing in the high-risk zone.
A dedicated relief camp has been established on-site under the supervision of Naib Tehsildar Loran to provide immediate assistance and essential supplies to the affected residents.
While no loss of life or injuries have been reported thus far, two additional government buildings have been placed on standby for further evacuations if the geological situation worsens.
The district administration remains in a state of high alert, closely monitoring the stability of the slopes to ensure the ongoing well-being of the Chikriban community.
