Industrial Revival in J&K: Surinder Choudhary Pushes for Policy Revamp and Support for Sick Units
JAMMU, April 09, 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary chaired a high-level consultative meeting today with the Jammu and Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) to drive a new era of industrial growth and operational efficiency in the Union Territory.
Central to the discussions was the urgent need to recalibrate incentive packages, streamline complex approval processes, and establish robust institutional mechanisms specifically designed to revive struggling and sick industrial units.
Choudhary emphasized that the government is focused on creating a conducive business environment that prioritizes local employment, income security, and skill development through a modernized industrial policy that enhances the ease of doing business across the region.
The meeting, attended by JCCI President Arun Gupta and other key stakeholders at the Civil Secretariat, served as a platform to address critical bottlenecks, including the timely release of allotments and infrastructure gaps in industrial estates.
The Deputy Chief Minister assured representatives that issues related to Phase-III Samba and the consistent supply of essential utilities—such as uninterrupted water, power, and improved road connectivity—would be addressed on a priority basis.
By pledging to revamp existing policies and ensuring seamless coordination between the administration and the private sector, Choudhary reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a competitive industrial hub with a resilient and flourishing manufacturing base.
