JAMMU April 06,2026 – The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), the only all-weather road connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, has been closed for all vehicular movement following multiple landslides and shooting stones.

According to the latest traffic updates issued by the J&K Traffic Police at 0300 hrs and 0900 hrs, the highway is completely blocked in both directions between Karol Bridge and Chander Kot.

The disruption was caused by heavy slides and shooting stones that have obstructed both tubes of the road. While clearance work is currently in progress, authorities have confirmed that no vehicular movement will be permitted from Jammu towards Ramban, Banihal, or Srinagar, and vice versa, until the stretch is fully restored.

Commuters and tourists are strongly advised to avoid traveling on NH-44 and to plan their journeys only after confirming the road status.

The department has urged the public not to fall prey to rumors and to rely on official channels for real-time information.
