Amritsar Police Bust Cross-Border Drug Ring: 4.13 Kg Heroin Seized from Smugglers Linked to Europe
AMRITSAR, PUNJAB — April 5, 2026 — The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has achieved a significant breakthrough in the ongoing war against narcotics by dismantling a major cross-border drug smuggling module.
During a targeted operation, law enforcement officials apprehended two individuals and recovered 4.13 kilograms of high-grade heroin. Preliminary investigations indicate that the arrested suspects were operating under the direct guidance of Europe-based handlers and incarcerated criminal operatives, serving as a critical link in a network designed to facilitate the influx of contraband into India and its subsequent distribution across the Majha and Doaba regions.
Both suspects reportedly have an extensive criminal history, with previous involvements recorded under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act. Following the seizure, an FIR has been officially registered at the Sultanwind Police Station in Amritsar.
Authorities are now conducting an intensive follow-up investigation to trace the financial trails and identify additional associates involved in the syndicate.
This successful crackdown underscores the Punjab Police’s steadfast commitment to dismantling international drug networks and ensuring a safer, drug-free environment for the state.
