Weather Update: MET Srinagar Forecasts Erratic Conditions and Rain Until April 10
SRINAGAR, April 5, 2026 — The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh advisory predicting that erratic weather conditions will persist across the region until April 10.
According to the latest forecast, the next two days (April 5-6) will see partly cloudy skies with brief spells of light rain at isolated locations during the afternoon and late afternoon hours.
However, a significant weather system is expected to impact the area between April 7 and 8, bringing generally cloudy conditions with intermittent light to moderate rain and snow in higher reaches.
This period may also see intense activity including thunder, hail, and gusty winds at several locations, with some plains potentially receiving moderate to heavy rainfall.
As the system begins to weaken, the weather on April 9-10 is expected to remain unsettled with brief spells of light rain or snow at scattered places.
Travelers and residents in higher altitudes are advised to remain cautious during this period due to the possibility of fluctuating visibility and slippery road conditions.
Fortunately, relief is on the horizon, as the MET department anticipates a return to generally dry weather starting from April 11 through April 15, providing a much-needed break from the week-long atmospheric instability.
