Ministry of Civil Aviation Monitors West Asia Airspace: Indian Carriers Schedule 50 Flights Amid Evolving Situation

NEW DELHI, March 9, 2026 — The Ministry of Civil Aviation is currently conducting a close watch on the shifting geopolitical situation in West Asia as it impacts air travel between India and the region. To ensure passenger safety and maintain orderly operations, airlines are making necessary operational adjustments based on prevailing conditions.

Data from March 7, 2026, indicates that Indian carriers successfully operated 51 inbound flights, bringing 8,175 passengers back to India from the region. For March 8, major airlines including Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa planned 49 inbound flights from key hubs such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, and Jeddah, contingent upon operational feasibility.

As of today, March 9, 2026, Indian carriers are planning to operate 50 flights while continuing to assess the ground situation at various regional airports to potentially expand service.

The Ministry is maintaining constant coordination with all stakeholders and is actively monitoring airfares to prevent any unreasonable surges in ticket prices during this period.

Passengers are strongly advised to remain in direct contact with their respective airlines for the most recent updates on flight schedules as the Ministry continues to evaluate the situation and provide further guidance as necessary.
