J&K Police Chief Nalin Prabhat and IGP Kashmir Review Security Amid Surging Pro-Iran Protests in Srinagar

Srinagar March 01, 2026 — Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi took to the streets of Srinagar on Sunday to personally oversee security arrangements following widespread demonstrations.

Accompanied by the SSP Srinagar and other senior officials, the top brass visited several key locations to assess operational preparedness as protesters gathered to express solidarity with Iran and voice strong opposition to military actions by the United States and Israel.

While authorities confirmed that the protests have remained largely peaceful in districts like Bandipora, Budgam, and Srinagar, security forces have been placed on high alert at sensitive intersections to prevent any potential breach of peace.

The J&K Police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining communal harmony and public order during this period of heightened tension. During the ground review, DGP Prabhat emphasized a policy of “zero tolerance” toward any elements attempting to incite unrest under the guise of demonstrations.

Police officials stressed that while the right to peaceful expression is respected, any attempt to disrupt the law will be met with firm action. Precautionary deployments have been reinforced across the Valley to facilitate smooth public movement and ensure the safety of all citizens as the situation continues to evolve.
