Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Launches Free Prasad Distribution for Pilgrims on Mahashivratri
KATRA, J&K — Marking the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has officially commenced the free distribution of sacred Prasad to all devotees visiting the Holy Cave Shrine.
Launched on Sunday following traditional Vedic rituals and Kanya Poojan, this spiritual initiative was originally envisioned by Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of J&K and Chairman of the SMVDSB, during the board’s 76th meeting earlier this month.
The newly introduced Prasad is presented in a specially designed, hygienic pouch containing dry fruits, a sacred Mouli (Kalava), and a commemorative coin engraved with the Holy Pindies, symbolizing the divine blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi.
Chief Executive Officer Sachin Kumar Vaishya confirmed that the distribution is systematically organized along the exit route to ensure every pilgrim receives this token of grace seamlessly after their darshan.
This milestone joins a long list of free welfare services provided by the Board—including langars, accommodation, medical aid, and battery car services for the specially-abled—reinforcing their commitment to making the yatra a safe, comfortable, and deeply enriching spiritual journey for millions of devotees.
