SRINAGAR, January 29, 2026 — Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken a strong stand for the safety of J&K residents across India by directly intervening in the recent assault of a young Kashmiri shawl seller in Uttarakhand.
In a high-level conversation with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the CM expressed deep concern over the incident and urged the state government to initiate immediate and stringent legal action against the perpetrators.
Responding to the outreach, CM Dhami assured that a formal FIR has been registered and reinforced his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Kashmiri traders and residents within Uttarakhand.
This move by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) underscores a proactive approach to protecting the interests of the Kashmiri diaspora and fostering interstate cooperation to maintain communal harmony and regional safety.
