LEH, Jan 11 (2026) — A comprehensive two-day district-level thematic training programme under the Revamped Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) successfully concluded in Leh today.

Held at the Pal Hotel in Tukcha, the initiative was organized following the directives of the District Panchayat Office to enhance the functional efficiency of local governance bodies.

The sessions, which ran from January 9 to 10, focused on critical development goals including the creation of poverty-free and healthy panchayats, alongside the promotion of enhanced livelihoods and transparent governance at the grassroots level.

District Panchayat Officer Aqeel Sajjad, who presided over the event, underscored the vital role of effective planning and transparency in strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions. He highlighted that the RGSA framework is essential for empowering local representatives to deliver better public services.

The training saw active participation from 71 officials, including Panchayat Secretaries, Panchayat Accounts Assistants, and Block Programme Managers from the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) and RGSA across various blocks of the district.

The execution of the programme was closely monitored by the PMU-RGSA team, led by District Project Manager Stanzin Padma. To ensure high standards of accountability and digital integration, the team utilized the Training Management Portal for real-time documentation and attendance tracking.

This capacity-building exercise is expected to streamline the implementation of rural development schemes and improve the overall administrative output of panchayats across the Leh region.
