SOPORE, January 10,2026: In a swift action, the Sopore Police successfully solved a theft case involving a local bakery, leading to the arrest of the culprit and the recovery of stolen cash.
The investigation began after the owner of “Cake Villa,” a popular bakery located at Shah Faisal Market, filed a complaint regarding a midnight burglary where a window was smashed to gain entry.
The thieves had reportedly decamped with cash and various bakery products. Following the report, an FIR (No. 05/2026) was registered under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Sopore to initiate a formal probe.
During the investigation, police identified the suspect as Shakir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Sir Syed Colony, Sopore. Although the accused initially attempted to evade capture, he was apprehended following persistent efforts by the police team.
Upon interrogation, Bhat confessed to the crime, which led to the immediate recovery of the stolen cash from his possession. He further admitted to consuming the stolen bakery items and revealed that he had also attempted to break into several other shops at the main market near the Sopore Bus Stand.
While the accused remains in custody, further investigation is underway to determine his involvement in other local crimes.
