Weather Forecast Signals Shifting Conditions and Strong Winds Across Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu/Srinagar, April 15, 2026 :- The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update for Jammu and Kashmir, indicating a transition from dry conditions to more active weather patterns over the coming days.
While the region is expected to remain generally dry throughout today and most of tomorrow, a subtle shift will begin on the evening of April 16 with brief spells of light rain or thundershowers in isolated areas. This temporary change precedes a more significant weather event scheduled for late in the week, as atmospheric conditions become increasingly unstable across the valley.
Residents and travelers should prepare for a notable change between April 17 and April 18, when generally cloudy skies will likely bring widespread light rain and thundershowers, particularly during the morning and forenoon hours.
This period carries the risk of more intense weather phenomena, including the possibility of hailstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in certain locations.
A brief period of scattered rain is also expected on the afternoon of April 19 before a prolonged dry spell takes hold from April 20 through April 24.In light of these predictions, authorities have issued a specific advisory for the agricultural community to ensure the safety of crops and the efficiency of seasonal work.
Farmers are encouraged to complete all essential farm operations, such as spraying or harvesting, by April 16 before the onset of the anticipated rain and wind.
Following the advisory will help mitigate potential damage from the predicted hailstorms and high-velocity winds, allowing for a smoother return to outdoor activities when the weather stabilizes early next week.
