SRINAGAR, June 4, 2026 — The Meteorological Centre Srinagar issued a fresh weather update predicting active rain, thundershowers, and intense storms across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the next forty-eight hours.

Weather officials stated that the region will experience one or two spells of heavy rain, hailstorms, and strong gusty winds today and tomorrow, with brief but intense downpours expected in isolated locations.

The weather pattern is projected to transition into a generally cloudy sky with brief showers in scattered areas on June 6, followed by a prolonged spell of hot and dry weather from June 7 to June 12.In response to the unstable weather conditions, authorities issued a comprehensive safety advisory warning residents about the potential dangers of lightning, hail, and high-velocity winds reaching speeds up to sixty kilometers per hour.

Local tour operators and tourists are strictly advised to suspend all boating and shikara riding on regional lakes during periods of heavy wind and active thunderstorms.

Furthermore, disaster management teams highlighted that brief, intense showers in isolated parts of the Kashmir valley could trigger sudden flash floods and mudslides, urging communities living in vulnerable terrains to remain highly vigilant.
