Udhampur Police Arrest Drug Peddler and Seize Heroin in Latti

UDHAMPUR, May 3, 2026 — As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, Udhampur Police successfully apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a quantity of heroin in the Latti region.

During a routine patrol and checkpoint operation near Dream Land Public School, a police team from Police Station Latti intercepted a vehicle for inspection. Upon searching the driver, identified as Mohd Rafiq, authorities discovered 4 grams of heroin, commonly known as chitta, in his possession.

Following the recovery, the police seized the vehicle and took the suspect into custody. An official case has been registered at Police Station Latti under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and a detailed investigation is currently underway to uncover further links in the drug supply chain.

This latest arrest underscores the commitment of the district police to intensify their crackdown on narcotics and protect the local youth from the dangers of substance abuse.
