Srinagar Police Solves Major Theft Case and Recovers Property Worth 17 Lakh Rupees
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 7 — Srinagar Police solved a major burglary case in the Rainawari area and recovered stolen property valued at approximately ₹17.5 lakh.
The case was registered at Police Station Rainawari as FIR No. 35/2026 under Sections 305 and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a complaint filed by Mohd Amin Changa, a resident of Changa Mohalla, Mir Behri, Dal, Rainawari, regarding a theft at his house.During the investigation, police identified the main suspect as Mohd Hussain Latoo, a resident of Akhoon Mohalla, Mir Behri, Dal, Rainawari.
Interrogation revealed that the suspect committed the theft in collusion with two juveniles. Based on disclosures made by the accused, police recovered gold jewelry worth ₹12 lakh alongside ₹2.2 lakh in cash. Investigations further established that a portion of the stolen funds was used to buy three iPhones and a motorcycle valued at ₹3.5 lakh, all of which were seized by authorities.
The total recovered property includes various gold ornaments—such as bangles, rings, a necklace, a pendant set, earring sets, and jhumkas—along with a wristwatch, cash, electronic items, and a vehicle.
Police officials stated that further investigation is underway and additional recoveries are expected, reiterating their commitment to safeguarding public property and urging citizens to report suspicious activities promptly
