CM Omar Abdullah Inaugurates Upgraded Residency Road High Street in Jammu

JAMMU, AUGUST 7 — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the upgraded Residency Road High Street in Jammu, marking the completion of an urban infrastructure initiative executed by Jammu Smart City Limited under the Smart City Mission at a cost of ₹9.18 crore.

The project has transformed a key 1.2-kilometer commercial and civic corridor, spanning from Raghunathji Mandir to CM House, Vivekanand Chowk to Raghunath Mandir Chowk, and Vir Marg Chowk to Vivekanand Chowk.To improve the visual appeal and streamline utility infrastructure along the stretch, an underground communication corridor was constructed to shift overhead cables beneath the surface.

Additional enhancements include new paver-block footpaths, a bituminous concrete road surface, and reinforced cement concrete drains. The upgraded corridor is designed to boost pedestrian safety, optimize traffic movement, and offer a cleaner, more organized urban landscape.

Several key officials attended the inauguration event, including Member of Legislative Assembly Jammu East Yudhvir Sethi, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dheeraj Gupta, Commissioner Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department Mandeep Kaur, and Chief Executive Officer of Jammu Smart City Limited Devansh Yadav.
