Suspicious Scorpio Seized in Ramban After Evading Security Checkpoint

RAMBAN, Aug 7: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district were put on high alert early Friday after a suspicious Mahindra Scorpio vehicle breached a police checkpoint at Chanderkote and sped towards the Nashri area. The incident took place around 3:30 a.m. when the vehicle, travelling from Srinagar towards Jammu, ignored signals from deployed police personnel to stop.

Police personnel fired three rounds at the fleeing vehicle in an attempt to halt its progress, triggering a joint search operation launched by the district police, CRPF, and the Indian Army. Following an extensive search, security forces located and seized the vehicle near Dalwas.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban Arun Gupta arrived at the scene to oversee the operation and confirmed that the vehicle had been recovered.Gupta stated that the district police have seized the suspicious vehicle and an investigation is currently underway, adding that further details will be shared as the probe progresses.

Security forces have intensified searches across the region while authorities investigate all potential angles to determine why the driver evaded the checkpoint.
