Indian Army Empowers Jammu & Kashmir Youth with Three-Week Motor Driving Skill Development Cadre in Kishtwar
KISHTWAR, AUGUST 06, 2026 — Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to community upliftment and youth empowerment in remote regions, the Indian Army successfully wrapped up an intensive three-week Motor Driving Skill Development Cadre at Dul in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, August 05, 2026. The targeted initiative saw enthusiastic involvement from 15 local youths, all eager to acquire practical skills to enhance their future employment prospects. Carefully structured to address local economic needs, the vocational training program focused on delivering comprehensive driving instruction alongside critical road-safety knowledge to help bridge the employment gap for young residents in the area.
Throughout the three-week curriculum, participants underwent rigorous hands-on training tailored for careers in transport and allied industries. The instructional modules covered essential road practices, including proper vehicle handling, navigating challenging mountain terrain, understanding complex traffic regulations, practicing basic automotive maintenance, and adhering to strict safe-driving protocols. Beyond technical competence, the cadre emphasized civic responsibility and safe road conduct, equipping the trainees with the mindset required for professional commercial driving and self-reliance.
The program concluded with a formal graduation ceremony where the Indian Army awarded Certificates of Merit to all 15 participants. In addition, trainees received official learner’s driving licenses issued by the Regional Transport Office (RTO), providing them with a concrete credential to secure sustainable livelihoods.
