Srinagar Police Demolish Illegal Luxury House of Notorious Drug Peddler Worth Two Crore

SRINAGAR, June 4, 2026 — Continuing a sustained crackdown against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police, in coordination with the Revenue Department, demolished an illegally constructed three-story residential structure.
The property, valued at approximately two crore rupees, belonged to a notorious drug peddler identified as Sheikh Tasaduq, a resident of Mumkhan Mohalla in the Rainawari area of Srinagar. The demolition target was identified during a comprehensive inquiry into the assets of the accused, who is currently involved in multiple narcotics cases across the region.
The accused faces several charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, including a 2019 case at the Awantipora police station and a 2023 case registered at the Budgam police station.
Investigations revealed that his spouse, Sheikh Maroofa, is also facing drug-related charges under a 2025 case registered at the Pulwama police station. Financial verifications established that the three-story concrete structure was raised over encroached state land and was built entirely from proceeds generated through illicit narcotics trafficking.
The law enforcement action successfully recovered the valuable government land from illegal occupation.The demolition was executed after completing all required legal formalities and following due process of law in the presence of regional revenue authorities.
Investigators confirmed that the property represented illegally acquired assets and financial gains derived directly from unlawful narcotics activities, alongside being an unauthorized encroachment. The Jammu and Kashmir Police stated that this action reflects their firm resolve to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting drug trafficking networks.
Officials reiterated their commitment to erasing the drug menace from society and urged the public to continue supporting police efforts to build a drug-free region.
