Scheduled Power Shutdown to Affect Various Localities in Jammu and Kathua

JAMMU, MAY 15, 2026Chief Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL, Jammu has announced a scheduled power shutdown for maintenance and repairs affecting several areas on May 16.

Residents in Upper Barnai, Lower Muthi, Paloura, JK Colony, Chandan Vihar, and adjoining localities will experience a disruption from 11 am to 2 pm. Major commercial and residential hubs, including Dogra Hall, Rehari, Bus Stand, Jewel, Raghunath Bazar, and New Plot, will see power cuts from 8 am to 4 pm.

In other sectors, the supply to Pouni, Shiv Khori, and Talwara will be affected from 8 am to 3 pm, while Bantalab, Bhalwal, and CRPF areas will face outages from 7 am to 12 noon. Additionally, Birpur Complex, Sainik Colony, Greater Kailash, and Chowadhi are scheduled for a shutdown between 7 am and 2 pm, with some specific lines in Ratnuchak and Birpur seeing restoration by 11 am.

In Kathua and surrounding industrial zones, Superintending Engineer JPDCL has notified that Rajpura, Lala Chack, and Rahya will face power interruptions on May 16 from 7 am to 12 noon, with further scheduled cuts for Rajpura and industrial areas on May 18 and 19.

Meanwhile, Executive Engineer, Electric Division-I has detailed a long-term maintenance schedule for Old City areas including Patel Bazar, Link Road, Peer Mitha, and Jain Bazar.

In these localities, power will remain affected from 6 am to 1 pm daily from May 16 to 30 as and when required. Notably, the department has announced an exemption for these areas on May 27 and 28 in observance of the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha to ensure residents are not inconvenienced during the festivities.
