Reasi police assists rescue of children and woman from Vaishno Devi track under welfare initiative

KATRA, June 11 — The Reasi Police, in collaboration with the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and the Prayas JAC Society, successfully completed a rescue operation along the Maa Vaishno Devi pilgrimage track to assist vulnerable individuals.

Conducted under the Central Government’s SMILE scheme, which focuses on providing livelihood and enterprise support for marginalized individuals, the drive targeted the identification, safe extraction, and rehabilitation of individuals requiring immediate protection along the busy route.A joint team, including personnel from the Banganga Police Post, patrolled the pilgrimage track and rescued six vulnerable people, consisting of five children and one woman.

Following their rescue, all six individuals received immediate medical and logistical assistance before being transferred to the SMILE Shelter Home in Katra. The facility will provide them with long-term care, protection, and comprehensive rehabilitation services.Local law enforcement officials noted that the smooth execution of the rescue operation highlights the strong coordination between regional police forces, shrine authorities, and social welfare organizations.

The Reasi Police reiterated their ongoing commitment to partnering with humanitarian agencies to protect the rights of women and children, ensuring a safe, secure, and dignified environment for both the local community and the visiting pilgrims.
