Punjab Police Anti Gangster Task Force arrests key operative in Tricity region
MOHALI, May 1, 2026:- The Anti-Gangster Task Force of the Punjab Police, in a collaborative operation with the SAS Nagar Police, has successfully apprehended a primary operative linked to foreign-based criminal syndicates.
During the arrest, law enforcement officials recovered a .32 calibre pistol and five live cartridges from the possession of the accused.
Early investigations indicate that the individual was operating under the direct instructions of handlers located abroad and had been assigned several high-profile targets across the Tricity area.
Authorities stated that this timely arrest has effectively neutralized a significant threat and averted potential criminal incidents planned for the region.
This breakthrough follows a related joint operation on April 18, which resulted in the dismantling of a gangster module and the arrest of four other individuals. The police are currently conducting further inquiries to trace the broader network and identify all backward and forward linkages associated with these organized crime activities.
The Punjab Police reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety and dismantling organized gangster networks throughout the state.
By focusing on intelligence-led operations and inter-departmental cooperation, the force continues to target the infrastructure of criminal groups.
Official efforts remain dedicated to ensuring long-term peace and security for all residents while preventing the influence of foreign-based handlers within the region.
