Omar Abdullah Orders Inquiry Into Bantalab Bridge Collapse
SRINAGAR, May 2, 2026—Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep sorrow following a bridge collapse in the Bantalab area on the outskirts of Jammu that resulted in the deaths of three workers.
The Chief Minister offered his heartfelt sympathies to the grieving families and shared his hopes for the swift recovery of those who sustained injuries during the accident.
The incident took place when a section of a small bridge gave way, trapping laborers beneath the debris. Reports indicate that the workers were engaged in repair efforts on a retaining wall near the structure when the collapse occurred.
Emergency response efforts were initiated shortly after the collapse was reported.In response to the tragedy, the Chief Minister directed officials to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.
