Mizoram Drug Bust Recovers Heroin Worth Over 17 Lakh
CHAMPHAI, May 2, 2026:- Assam Rifles and the Zokhawthar Police successfully intercepted a drug smuggling attempt during a joint operation in the Champhai District of Mizoram. The mission took place on April 30, 2026, at the General Area Crossing Point-3 in Zokhawthar.
Acting on specific intelligence, the security teams managed to seize a significant quantity of illegal narcotics intended for distribution.During the search, officials recovered 23 grams of Heroin No-4, which has an estimated market value of approximately 17.25 lakh.
One individual was apprehended at the scene in connection with the haul. This operation marks another step in the ongoing efforts by regional security forces to curb the trafficking of high-grade narcotics across the border.
The seized contraband and the suspect were immediately transferred to the Zokhawthar Police Station for formal processing.
Local authorities have initiated further investigations and legal proceedings to trace the origin of the drugs and identify any broader networks involved in the trade.
