LG Manoj Sinha Vows Surgical Strike on Drug Hotspots to Secure a Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir

RAMBAN, APRIL 15, 2026:- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha spearheaded a powerful movement against narcotics today, leading a large scale Padyatra from the District Police Line to the District Administrative Complex in Ramban.

This march, a central part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, saw thousands of participants including religious leaders, students, and ex-servicemen joining hands to voice their determination to root out drug addiction.

During a massive public gathering, the Lieutenant Governor described drug abuse as a social cancer rather than a simple law and order problem, calling for a unified strategy that combines the strength of the government with the iron resolve of civil society to protect the future of the region’s youth.

The Lieutenant Governor sent a stern warning to those fueling the crisis, promising that authorities would map every drug hotspot and hit them with the precision of a surgical strike.

He noted that for decades, cross-border smuggling has been used as a tool to fund terrorism and weaken the younger generation. In response, he directed police officials to immediately dismantle supply chains and publicly list traffickers at local police stations.

He emphasized that the administration has prepared a multi-pronged strategy reaching every ward and panchayat, ensuring that no smuggler finds shelter and no network remains standing in the face of this crackdown.

Addressing the youth directly, the Lieutenant Governor urged them to reject the false allure of drugs, stating that addiction is a form of slavery to dealers rather than something cool or trendy.

He encouraged young people to channel their immense energy into sports, academics, and the arts, while promising that schools and colleges would work to redefine drug use as a symbol of cowardice.

To support those already struggling, he highlighted that the administration is prioritizing genuine treatment and rehabilitation, ordering the immediate closure of any sub-standard or illegal de-addiction centers that fail to provide proper care to patients.

The campaign also placed a heavy emphasis on the role of women and local communities in winning this battle. Lieutenant Governor Sinha called for the formation of women’s vigilance committees in every panchayat, identifying mothers and sisters as the frontline of the war against narcotics.

He urged families to stop hiding addiction out of shame and instead treat it as a medical condition that requires collective support.

By the end of the event, after flagging off a bike rally and administering an anti-drug pledge, the message was clear: the time for silence has ended, and the survival of future generations depends on the society’s courage to act as one today.
