Jammu State Taxes department reviews GST and VAT recovery proceedings

JAMMU, July 16, 2026:- Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Recovery Jammu Sapna Kotwal chaired a review meeting to evaluate the progress of revenue recovery under the Old GST, VAT, and New GST regimes, focusing on speeding up the disposal of outstanding arrears.

During the meeting, Sapna Kotwal reviewed the recovery performance of the past two months and expressed satisfaction with the progress made both within and outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. She commended the efforts of the officers and officials of the Recovery Wing for their commitment to enhancing revenue collection.

Emphasizing the need to maintain this momentum, Sapna Kotwal directed officers to intensify their efforts, ensure the prompt disposal of pending cases, and adopt a result-oriented approach to realize government dues. She instructed that all recovery proceedings must strictly follow relevant tax laws while ensuring transparency, accountability, and close coordination with out-of-state authorities when necessary.

The meeting also discussed strategies to strengthen interstate coordination, monitor high-value recovery cases, and reinforce follow-up mechanisms to maximize recovery within stipulated timelines.

The review meeting was attended by State Tax Officer Rajesh Sharma, Senior Stenographer Subash Chander Baru, and Inspectors Ravinder Mohan Paul, Rita Sharma, and Sami Ullah Malik. Sub-Inspectors Ashish Bruno Khokher, Ved Prakash, Avinash Dogra, Liaquat Ali, and Deepak Singh were also present at the briefing.
