DC Udhampur Leads Public Grievance Camp in Mansar to Resolve Local Issues

UDHAMPUR, JULY 17: In a major push toward responsive and public-centric governance, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, chaired a comprehensive public grievance redressal camp at Mansar during his official tour of Block Majalta. The high-profile outreach program saw active participation from former Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members and residents from adjoining panchayats, all eager to voice their local concerns. Accompanying the Deputy Commissioner were several senior officials, including Chief Executive Officer of the Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority (SMDA) Vivek Puri, Programme Officer Poshan Subash Dogra, and Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Dr. Ashwani Hansa, alongside other departmental heads.

During the camp, community members highlighted a diverse range of developmental demands aimed at upgrading local infrastructure and services. Key issues raised included the urgent augmentation of drinking water supply, the infrastructural upgrade of the local Primary Health Centre (PHC)—specifically requesting the installation of an ultrasound machine—and vital school improvements such as building boundary walls at Primary School Battal and Higher Secondary School (HSS) Mansar. Locals also advocated for modernizing HSS Mansar with a new library, smart classrooms, an auditorium, and a dedicated examination hall. Other pressing demands spanned the resolution of frequent power curtailments, the installation of footpath lighting and public women’s washrooms, the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya, the rationalization of Anganwadi centres, the creation of a new public park and stadium, and boosting local tourism by increasing the boat fleet and introducing traditional Shikara services on Mansar Lake.

“Officers must conduct first-hand assessments of all grievances and ensure that genuine issues are resolved on priority within the stipulated timeframe.” — DC Udhampur, Minga Sherpa

Responding proactively to the community, Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa gave a patient hearing to all delegations and issued immediate, on-the-spot directives to the concerned departmental heads for swift resolution. Emphasizing the core values of dedication, sincerity, and accountability, the DC instructed officers to fast-track genuine public demands within a strict, time-bound framework. Furthermore, he mandated all departments to organize widespread awareness camps to educate the public on various government welfare schemes, ensuring eligible beneficiaries can seamlessly access their entitlements. Following the redressal camp, the Deputy Commissioner conducted spot inspections of various local government institutions to evaluate their operational efficiency, underscoring the administration’s commitment to enhanced service delivery and improved public facilities.
