Eight Medical Shops Sealed in Ganderbal During Anti-Drug Inspection Drive

Ganderbal May 02,2026 :- Continuing its intensified enforcement under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 100, authorities carried out a major inspection drive in the Gund and Hariganiwan areas of Ganderbal district, leading to the closure of eight medical shops for violations of regulatory norms.
The joint inspection was conducted by the Drug Control Department Ganderbal in close coordination with the Station House Officer (SHO) Kangan Police Station and Gund. The drive aimed to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and to curb the illegal sale and misuse of pharmaceutical drugs.
During the inspection in the Gund area, officials identified one unlicensed medical shop operating without proper authorization. The establishment was immediately sealed on the spot. In addition, two other medical shops were thoroughly inspected to verify their adherence to legal and safety standards.
Officials issued necessary directions to the shop owners, emphasizing strict compliance with prescribed norms and warning against any future violations.In the Hariganiwan area, the inspection team found four medical shops violating multiple provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Acting swiftly, authorities ordered the closure of all four establishments to prevent further irregularities.
Officials reiterated that such drives will continue across the district to eliminate illegal drug practices and ensure public safety. The administration also urged shopkeepers to strictly follow regulations, failing which strict legal action will be taken.
In total, eight medical shops were closed during today’s enforcement drive, sending a strong message against non-compliance in the pharmaceutical sector.
