CRPF 137 Battalion and Fire Services Avert Major Disaster After Fire Outbreak Near Jakhani Chowk in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, May 28, 2026: A massive disaster was narrowly avoided in the Jakhani area along the crucial Jammu-Srinagar National Highway today after a sudden fire broke out inside a local lubricant shop, triggering widespread panic throughout the busy commercial locality. The fire, which was reportedly caused by a short circuit, posed an immediate and severe threat as the affected establishment is situated within a dense market complex packed with numerous adjacent shops, with a residential neighborhood located directly behind the structure.

Recognizing the high risk of the flames spreading rapidly to neighboring commercial properties and nearby homes, personnel from the 137 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jammu Sector, responded swiftly to the emergency. The CRPF troops immediately alerted the Fire and Emergency Services department while simultaneously rushing to the scene to provide active assistance.
