Amritsar Police Bust Cross-Border Arms Network and Seize Seven Sophisticated Pistols
AMRITSAR, May 3, 2026 — The Amritsar Commissionerate Police achieved a significant breakthrough by dismantling a cross-border arms smuggling module and arresting four suspects.
During the operation, security forces recovered seven high-end firearms, including two Austrian-made Glock 9mm pistols and five .30 bore pistols, four of which were manufactured in China. This successful recovery underscores the ongoing challenges posed by illegal weapons trafficking across international boundaries and the vigilance required to intercept such shipments.
Initial investigations indicate that the apprehended individuals were utilizing social media platforms to coordinate with Pakistan-based smugglers.
These digital channels were used to facilitate the delivery of illegal weapon consignments intended for distribution among criminal networks throughout Punjab.
A formal case has been registered under the Arms Act at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar. Authorities are currently conducting a deeper investigation to map out the network’s forward and backward linkages, aiming to identify additional associates and disrupt the infrastructure supporting these smuggling operations.
