Punjab Police busts illegal arms module in Amritsar with arrest of three suspects

AMRITSAR July 08,2026 — Counter Intelligence Amritsar has disrupted a major cross-border smuggling operation by busting an illegal arms and explosives network and arresting three individuals.

During the operation, security operatives recovered six hand grenades and 12 pistols from the possession of the accused.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the module was operating under the direct instructions of a foreign-based smuggler, with strategic backing from Pakistan’s Intelligence agency, the ISI, and overseas operatives belonging to the banned Babbar Khalsa International.

The consignment was reportedly smuggled into the region to execute targeted activities aimed at disrupting public peace and harmony across Punjab.Following the breakthrough, a formal First Information Report has been registered at the Police Station State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar under the Arms Act, the Explosive Substances Act, and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Senior officials confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to trace both forward and backward linkages associated with the network.

Authorities are working to identify all active associates involved in the logistical chain and fully dismantle the infrastructure of the terror-criminal module. The Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to countering cross-border threats and maintaining strict security and stability within the state.
