Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Inspects Expressway Project in Katra & Udhampur, Meets Injured Soldier at Northern Command Hospital

KATRA, JULY 08 — Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary conducted an extensive tour of the Udhampur and Katra regions today to evaluate major infrastructure projects and engage with local communities. As part of his visit, the Deputy Chief Minister stopped at the Northern Command Hospital in Udhampur to check on the condition of Subedar Rakesh Kumar from the 1st JAKLI, who is currently undergoing medical treatment. Choudhary consulted with the attending medical staff, instructing them to provide the highest standard of healthcare for the soldier’s swift recovery, while also meeting with the soldier’s family to assure them of the government’s full support and assistance.

Following his hospital visit, Deputy Chief Minister Choudhary inspected the ongoing construction of the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway, focusing specifically on the crucial Domail–Katra segment. Emphasizing the project’s importance, he urged officials to maintain strict quality and safety standards to ensure its timely completion, noting that the expressway will dramatically enhance regional connectivity, drive economic growth, and boost tourism.

Additionally, Choudhary hosted public outreach initiatives across various spots in Katra to hear first-hand from residents about their local grievances and demands. Reaffirming the administration’s dedication to transparent, people-centric governance, he promised prompt, time-bound resolutions to their issues and directed department heads to take immediate action. The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied throughout the tour by senior district administration officials, engineering chiefs, and former Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) representatives.
