Ladakh tourism records surge as foreign arrivals double in June Says LG Ladakh
LEH July 08 — Ladakh has recorded an unprecedented surge in its tourism sector with a significant increase in both domestic and international visitors this season. In June alone, foreign tourist arrivals doubled to reach 6,680, marking a phenomenal 100 percent jump compared to the 3,349 international travelers recorded during the same month last year.
Similarly, the total volume of visitors traveling to the region throughout June exceeded 1.07 lakh, representing a 44 percent growth from the 75,089 tourists who visited during the corresponding period last year.
According to regional data, the majority of the international visitors arrived from a diverse range of countries, including Israel, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, Russia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Thailand.
Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena expressed deep appreciation for the visionary leadership and sustained focus of Prime Minister Narendra Modi toward enhancing infrastructure and developing connectivity in Ladakh.
This strategic administrative push has successfully elevated the destination’s profile, firmly establishing the high-altitude region as a premier location on the global travel map.
