J&K Police Seize ₹30 Lakh Property of Notorious Drug Peddler in Sopore NDPS Crackdown

SOPOREJULY 08— In a major blow to the regional narcotics network, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached the immovable property of a notorious drug peddler in Sopore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Executed as part of the ongoing “100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan,” the law enforcement action targeted a double-storey residential house valued at approximately ₹30 lakh. The property, located in Behrampora, Rafiabad, belongs to Gulzar Ahmad Zargar (also known as Sheeda), son of Ghulam Hassan Zargar. A detailed financial investigation and inquiry by the police revealed that the house was illicitly acquired using proceeds generated directly from narcotics trafficking, leading to its official identification and attachment.

This latest seizure underscores an aggressive financial crackdown by local authorities, bringing the total number of properties attached by the Sopore Police during this campaign to eight, with a combined valuation exceeding ₹1.50 crore. By systematically dismantling the financial infrastructure that funds the illegal drug trade, the J&K Police are reinforcing their strict zero-tolerance policy against substance abuse and trafficking. Authorities have reiterated that stringent legal and financial measures will continue unabated against anyone involved in the narcotics ecosystem, marking a sustained effort under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan to completely eradicate the drug menace and foster a safer, healthier, and drug-free society.
