Jammu and Kashmir Transport Reforms: Minister Satish Sharma Approves 7th Pay Commission for JKRTC Employees
SRINAGAR JUNE 11,2026 — In a major boost to employee welfare and public transit infrastructure, Jammu and Kashmir Transport Minister Satish Sharma chaired the 88th Board of Directors meeting of the JKRTC at the Civil Secretariat, greenlighting the long-awaited implementation of the 7th Pay Commission scales for corporation workers.
The high-level session, attended by key financial and administrative officials, also delivered key approvals for officer promotions, a revised wage structure for consolidated drivers, the immediate settlement of all pending retiree gratuity and pension claims, and the creation of a compassionate welfare policy for the families of employees who die in harness. Looking toward future operational sustainability, the Board evaluated JKRTC’s physical and financial performance, reviewed the upcoming 2026–27 budget, and tracked the ongoing acquisition of 200 new electric buses under the PM e-Drive Scheme.
Minister Sharma emphasized that transparency, digital integration, and public convenience must guide the corporation’s roadmap, reaffirming the government’s commitment to transforming the JKRTC into a modern, financially self-sustaining, and passenger-friendly transport network across the region.
